Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important representative commented the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
