19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a close final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
